Robert Lee "Bob" Williams, Sr., 93, Self-employed painting contractor in the Grants Pass area, died Thursday, June 26, 2025, at his son's home in Grayland, WA.
Robert was born on October 8, 1931, in Milford, TX to Lonnie Lee and Ruby Lee (Shrader) Williams. He moved to the Los Angeles, CA area when he was young. Later he moved to Oakland, CA where he graduated from Emeryville High School in 1949. He then moved to the Lake Tahoe area, where he met his future wife.
On November 21, 1953, Robert married Marbine Holifield, in Sparks, NV. She passed away on February 18, 2020.
In 1954, Robert was drafted into the US Army at Ft. Ord, CA. He was stationed in Germany for 18 months with his wife. When he was honorably discharged in 1956, they bought a car in New York and traveled across the United States, to eventually settle in Pomona, CA.
He went to work for JP Carrol Painting Contractors, and worked for them until 1970, when they moved to Grants Pass, OR. He started his own painting company in that area.
Following the death of Marbine, Bob bought a motorhome and moved up to Grayland, WA to be near his son, Rob.
Bob was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was recognized for his fine leadership skills. In the late 70's, he served as president of the Charlie Brown Squares, a local square dance club in the Grants Pass area. He also served as Cub Scout Pack Cubmaster when his son was in scouts. Bob was loved by everyone who met and knew him. He enjoyed working with his hands, and on various home improvement projects. In his advanced age, he enjoyed coloring in his coloring books and talking with his numerous friends on the phone. He loved his grandchildren dearly and sought every opportunity to be with them.
Bob is survived by his son Robert Lee “Rob” and Sherry Williams, Jr. of Grayland, WA; a daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” (Eric) Webb of Sunnyvale, CA; six grandchildren: Jennifer Love, Bryce Moore, Kjersten Moore, Emma Moore, Laura Moore and Adam Webb; one great grandchild, Adrian Steig. Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Marbine Williams; two half-brothers: Jimmy Gowetor and Leland Williams; a stepbrother, Earl Rexroat; and a Stepsister, Betty Hale.
There will be a graveside service with Military Honors on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 11 AM at Eagle Point National Cemetery, Eagle Point, OR.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell's Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, WA.
