Libberty Susan Newton, 25, former Aberdeen resident and Tacoma native, died Tuesday, July 7, 2026, after being struck by a train in Seattle, WA.
Libberty was born on March 14, 2001, in Olympia, WA to Thomas W. and Janette Marie (Gardner) Newton. She grew up in Tacoma and attended Jason Lee Middle School. She then moved to Aberdeen for a short time before returning to Tacoma.
She loved being outdoors from morning till night. She also loved animals and aspired to be a Veterinary Tech. Libberty was a very caring person who always put others above herself.
Libberty is survived by her father and stepmother, Thomas and Sarah Newton of Elma, WA; a brother, Garrett (Fiancé Faith) Newton of Dallas, TX; a sister, Emry Newton of Tacoma, WA; two step-brothers: Kyle (LeAnn) Davis of Kennewick, WA and Ryan Davis of Seattle, WA; and a Stepmother, Amy Lougheed of Aberdeen. She was preceded in death by her mother, Janette Lougheed.
A celebration of Libberty’s life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 12:00 PM located at Calvary Lutheran Church Parish Hall. 2510 Simpson Ave., Aberdeen, WA 98520.
