Donald Gregory “Don” Randich, a lifelong resident of Aberdeen, Washington, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, at the age of 95, with Barbara, his wife of 69 years, by his side.
Don was born September 16, 1930, in Aberdeen to Joseph and Clara Randich. He grew up in Aberdeen and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1949.
Don served in the United States Navy during the Korean War era aboard the USS Pittsburgh.
On June 15, 1957, Don married Barbara Ann Spalla. Together they built a life in Aberdeen, raising four sons and later welcoming eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, as well as countless nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
As a father, Don was always there. Whether it was lending a helping hand, offering advice, reminding his boys to save some money for the winter, or simply sitting down together for a happy hour drink, he remained a steady, dependable presence his family always knew they could count on.
Hard work was a constant throughout Don’s life. His father, Joseph, founded J.M. Randich and Sons, a concrete finishing company that Don and his brothers eventually owned and operated. When the company closed in 1985, Don and his son Bob started Industrial Pressure Washing, which eventually became Industrial Maintenance. Don retired in 2000, though retirement didn’t mean slowing down.
Don was a meticulous man who firmly believed that just about everything worked better if it was clean. Taking care of his home became something of a full-time hobby — there was always grass to mow, an edge to trim, a weed to pull, something to paint, a driveway to sweep, or something that could benefit from being washed. He once summed up his philosophy after cleaning something: “It may not run any better, but it makes me feel better.” That was Don — he took tremendous pride in keeping his home, his yard and just about everything around him clean and cared for.
Don was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Parish in Aberdeen. His Catholic faith remained an important part of his life. Even when he and Barbara were no longer able to attend Mass in person, Sunday still included Mass, watched together on their iPad.
Don enjoyed following the Seattle Seahawks and Mariners. He and Barbara also enjoyed escaping the Northwest winters and spending time together in the sunshine of California and Arizona.
Don was devoted above all to Barbara, his family, his faith, his work and his home — and he showed that devotion the way he lived his life: by being there, helping when something needed to be done, and taking care of the people and things that mattered to him.
Fittingly, on his final day, Don passed away peacefully with Barbara at his side while the grass outside was being cut.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Clara Randich; his stepmother, Nora Randich; his brothers, Bob and Dave Randich; and his sisters Katherine Hannick and Lorraine Aldrich.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Barbara; his sons Mike (Susan), Bob, Steve (Julie), and Jeff (Kathy); his eight grandchildren, Kevin, Kristen, Megan, Rachel, Kelsey, Riley, Jenna and Jacob; his five great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Bennett, Jack, Rosie and Hadley; his sisters Shirley Morgan, Emmy Lou Mierzwa, Tinker Garley and Virginia Scholl; his sister-in-law Carlene Randich; and countless nieces, nephews and extended family members.
The Randich family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at Channel Point for the wonderful care, kindness and compassion they gave Don and Barbara. And a very special thank you to the “sister” we never knew we had.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at St. Mary’s Church in Aberdeen. A reception will follow in the parish center. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or School.
