Edgar DeVore, 98, a longtime Cosmopolis resident and former equipment operator for Weyerhaeuser’s Cosmopolis pulp mill, died Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Pacific Care Center in Hoquiam.
Edgar was born on July 22, 1914 in Spokane, Washington to James Dossen and Eva Helen (Norton) DeVore.
Edgar came to Aberdeen in 1918 and then to Cosmopolis in 1920. He worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps camps in Clearwater, Mt. Rainier and Ilwaco. He then worked for Bay City Lumber as a Planer, Aberdeen Plywood on the Green Chain and then the Dryer for 10 years, after which he worked for Weyerhaeuser for 22 years as an Equipment Operator.
On January 9, 1944, Edgar married Anna E. Mix in Cosmopolis, WA. She passed on September 17, 1997.
Edgar was a member of KOA Camping Club and the Good Sam Club.
Edgar is survived by his son: Darryl and his wife Linda DeVore of Montesano; a granddaughter, Jessica DeVore of Hoquiam and two great grandchildren.
Following Edgar’s request, there will be no services. Burial took place at Forest Hill Cemetery, Cosmopolis next to his Wife Anna.
