Denise Marie Larson, 67, an Aberdeen resident and former childcare provider at Wunderland Childcare, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington.

Denise was born July 24, 1959, in Tyndall, South Dakota, to Raymond Karl and Norma (Blaha) Schamber. Her family moved to Aberdeen in the 60’s. She graduated from Aberdeen Weatherwax Highschool.

She later moved to Forks, Washington, where she lived for about 10 years and worked in childcare. During this time, she then married Archie Larson in 2008. Denise moved back to Aberdeen in 2015 and worked at Wunderland Childcare for the next 13 years. Caring for children was a big part of her life, and over the years she touched the lives of many children and families in her community.

Denise enjoyed the simple things that made life special. She loved watching the Mariners and Seahawks, cheering on her son Donald while he played softball, fishing, hunting, and going to the casinos. She was also known for her impressive pig collection, something those who knew her will always remember with a smile.

Above all else, Denise loved her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter meant the world to her, and spending time with them brought her so much happiness. Her grandchildren and great-granddaughter were truly a light in her life, and the memories they made together will forever be cherished by those who loved her.

Denise was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Larson, and her parents, Raymond Karl and Norma (Blaha) Schamber.

She is survived by her son, Donald (Kristi) Schamber of Ocean Shores; daughter, Crystal Schamber and her companion, Jerome Roland, of Aberdeen; siblings, Bradley Schamber of Aberdeen and Barb Schamber of Kent, Washington; four grandchildren, Tanner Schamber-Samudio of Nevada, Ashlyn Schamber of Elma, and Alanna and Aaliyah Schamber of Aberdeen; and one great-granddaughter, Kennedy Schmidt of Elma.

A private family gathering will be held. Her family suggests that donations may be made in Denise’s memory to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
