Dara Phin

Dara Phin, a long time resident of Aberdeen, Washington, passed away unexpectedly following an accident on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at the age of 45.

Dara was born on March 31, 1981, in Koidang, Thailand, to his loving parents, Loeuth Pas and Sarath Prak. He was 1 of 6 siblings. His parents were survivors of the Cambodian genocide and in search of safety and a better future for their family, fled to refugee camps before eventually settling in America. They first made their home in Aberdeen, Washington, where they were reunited with extended family.

A few years later, the family moved to Long Beach, California, where Dara attended Lincoln Elementary School. After three and a half years, they returned to Aberdeen. Dara attended Miller Jr. High School and graduated from J.M. Weatherwax High School with the class of 1999.

Following graduation, Dara worked a variety of jobs before finding his place at Pacific Veneer where he was employed as a crimping machine operator. He remained a dedicated employee until his tragic accident on July 23rd.

Dara was a true spirit who loved life on his own terms. He had a gentle soul and a deep love for animals, especially dogs. There was almost always a loyal companion by his side. His beloved dog, Rahu, greatly misses his best friend.

Proud of his Cambodian heritage, Dara loved sharing his culture and traditions with family and friends. He treasured time spent with those he loved and shared a close bond with his entire family. He had a gift for making people laugh, whether through his unforgettable stories, playful antics, or warm sense of humor.

An avid outdoorsman, Dara enjoyed fishing the lakes around Grays Harbor, foraging, mushroom picking, and spending time with his buddies. Above all, Dara cherished the moments he shared with his family, his girlfriend, Cassy, and his faithful companion, Rahu.

Dara will be remembered for his generous heart, infectious smile, and the joy he brought to everyone around him. His stories will continue to be told, his laughter will echo in the memories of those who knew him, and his love will remain forever in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.

Dara is survived by his parents, Loeuth Pas and Sarath Prak, of Aberdeen, Washington; his brothers: Sokcheat Phin, of Cambodia, Dary Phin, Sarith Phin, and Sarom Phin, all of Aberdeen, Washington; his 2 sisters: Saray Phin, of Marysville, Washington, and Nikki Phin, of Elma, Washington; and his 13 nieces and nephews: Ayden, AJ, Jonthavi, Savvy, Taylee, Esme, Leandro, Harbor, Averi, Akara, Chantha, Sopheap, and Makara, all of whom he loved dearly. He also leaves behind numerous extended family members and many cherished friends who will forever miss his kind heart, laughter, and friendship.

A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the chapel of Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM at Fern Hill Funeral Home with a traditional cremation ceremony immediately following the service.
