Carol Adell (Campbell) Trusty passed away on Feb 7th, 2026 on the farm surrounded by family in Porter, WA. She was born May 24th, 1942 in Tacoma, WA to her parents Udell Campbell and Gladys (Martel) Campbell. She spent most of her childhood between the Olympia area, Missoula, Montana, and Hood River Oregon. She graduated in 1961 from North Thurston High school, and briefly moved to Illinois after graduation. Soon after, she joined the US Navy becoming a draftsman stationed in Washington DC.

There she met the love of her life, David Jon Trusty of Fort Dodge, IA. This relationship bloomed into marriage on Nov. 25, 1964. After the Navy they moved back to David’s home state of Iowa. Carol and David moved around through many different agriculture jobs and a move to Missouri. This including many years at Stickle Cattle Farm, and years farming with David’s dad Alvin. In 1967 they welcomed their first-born Carlene, followed by Dayal in 1973, Darren in 1976, and Cordell in 1983. In 1986 David and Carol made their way to Washington, and after several temporary jobs, they finally found their place at Briggs Nursery in Olympia. While in Olympia, Carol worked at The Barn, helping with plants and decor. In 1991 Briggs began the process of moving to Porter with David as Manager. She began working at Country Tyme in Montesano, lending her creativity to decorating and making Christmas magical. Soon they were able to the purchase the family farm in Porter in 1994, which was the beginning of DC Farms, and where they both remained until their death. After celebrating 60 years of marriage, David passed away in Dec 7, 2024.

Carol’s whole life was devoted to serving her community with her creativity. She was a Master Quilter, doing custom long arm quilting for many sewers in the area, and winning many awards for her expert level quilts. She organized an annual Quilt Show, and ran the Home Arts Department at the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds for over 20 years, was a member of Sharon Grange and ran the Sharon Grange Home EC. She was a member of the Elma VFW Auxiliary, and a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Elma. She taught sewing at the Elma Variety Store, as well as 4-H members at WSU extension office. She also coordinated East County’s Christmas for Kids’ program.

She is survived by her daughter Carlene (Ben) Lewis of McCleary, daughter Dayal Trusty of Rochester, son Darren (Cathy) Trusty of Oakville, and son Cordell (Tiffany) Trusty of Elma, sister Deanna Wellman, and brother Bob Campbell, as well as 8 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
